The pie charts below give information about world population in 1900 and 2000.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two charts compare the percentage of the number of people who live in five different areas all over the world, including Europe, North America, Latin America & Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, the Asia Pacific in the timescale of a century from 1900 to 2000.
Overall, while the rate of people who lived in Asia and Europe occupied the world population, people lived in other countries experienced a slight fluctuation over the period surveyed.
Look at the pie chart for more detail, we can see that the Asia Pacific hold the lion’s share, with 60% (in 1900) and 54% (in 2000), compared to the other regions in the world. In the meantime, Europe was the runner-up, with a considerable decrease from 25% (in 1900) to 14% (in 2000).
As can be seen in the chart, the proportion of residents in North America leveled off throughout the period, with 5% in both years. A difference was recorded in Latin America & Caribbean and Africa with an upward trend in the share of inhabitants, beginning at 3% and 4% (in 1900) and increasing to 8% and 10%, respectively at the end of the survey. The striking feature was seen in the Middle East and North Africa, with significant growth to 6% in 2000 from scratch.
