The lecture and the article are both about the Torreya toxifoha tree extinction. The author feels that humans can prevent extinction of these trees and provides three solution to address the decline of Torreya. The lecturer challenges the claim made by the article. He believes that these solutions are not convincing.
To begin with, the writer states that reestablishing Torreya in the same location would be very practical to survive the tree. The specific argument is challenged by the lecturer, he claims that coolest and dampest areas are infleunced by the environment temperature. Global warming affects the microclimates that faced with dryness.
Secondly, the author mentions that relocating the Torreya is very effective way. The lecture, however, rebuts this by mentioning that this solution make the condition wors. she says that when people relocate the other trees like Bleck locas, the thriving groth of Black locas threated another the growth of other tree species and made them extinct.
Last but not least, the article posits that another option is to preserve Torreya in research centers. In contrast, the lecturer position is that trees in research ceners are very susceptible to diseas and they do not have any chance to survive in research invironments. they should be varied genetically in order to be resistant to different types of viruses and bacterias to can be survive. Therefore in the isulate invironment they can not be survive in the long time.
