There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than international music that is heard everywhere nowadays?

Music is considered to be one of those indispensable in human’s life. This essay will explain the reasons why music makes such an essential part. This essay will also discuss the importance of traditional and international music.

First and foremost, it is a well-known fact that music has a beneficial effect on one’s mental well-being. Study has showed that listening to music assists listeners in fighting off stress, as well as other mental illnesses. For example, in 2015 there was an experiment in which psychiatrists made use of classical songs to improve the condition of patients suffering from bipolar disease. The experiment was an astounding success. In addition, music enriches the inner space and broadens one’s horizon. More often than not, the lyric behind each song conveys a meaningful message, which can be either an advice or some words of encouragement.

Although there still exist heated debates concerning the role of traditional and international music, I am more inclined towards the idea that neither of them is of more importance than the other. From my point of view, both has its own advantage that should not be neglected. On the one hand, the traditional type plays a crucial part in the prosperity of one’s culture. Being handed down from generations to generations, it is not only a precious gift from our ancestors, but also our cultural identity that should be well-protected and treasured. At the same time, its modern counterpart helps to narrow the distance between country and country. Foreigners can enjoy the music while being exposed to new cultural values, without the fear of getting deterred by language barriers.

In conclusion, people need music for its undeniable perks in nurturing the soul. For these aforementioned reasons, I believe traditional and international music should co-exist to gain the most out of this wonderful creation of note and rhythm.
