The Line graph Illustrates the percentage of people ages 65 and more between the years 2040 in three different countries, which includes, USA, Sweden, Japan.
Overall, Graph has information from 1940 to present and expected growth up to 2040. Although Japan had lesser number of old people compared to USA and Sweden, It is expected to be greater than both of them in 2040.
The trends of both the countries USA and Sweden resembles similar up to 1990 approximately with around 7% and 9% respectively. In this case, the percentage of old population increased until 1980 and dropped slightly after 1980. However, growth in percentage of old people of Sweden is observed after 1990 and expected to reach 25% in 2040, while, old people of USA remained stable and is expected to reach around 23% 2040.
On the other hand, percentage of old people in Japan was 5% in 1940 and despite some ups and downs, it was again 5% in 2001 approximately. There was slight improvement after 2001, In addition, dramatic growth is projected after 2020 and is expected to reach more than 25% in 2040.
