Overall, Housing was the major expense for an average household in 1950 whereas Food became the largest in 2010. Healthcare accounted for the smallest expense in both years.
Housing comprised 72.1% of the budget in 1950 which plummeted dramatically by 50% to 22% in 2010. Food, on the other hand, made up 11.2% of the entire budget in 1950 showed a significant increment by approximately 20% to 34% in 2010. The proportion of expense on Healthcare which was 2.4% in 1950 remained the least with a mere increment of around 2% to 4.5%.
Transportation costs and Other costs incurred in 1950 rose massively reaching 14% and 19.2% in 2010. In contrast, the percentage of money spent on Education which was 6.6%, decreased by a mere 0.3% reaching 6.3% in 2010.
