The pie charts show the proportion of 3 different age categories in 2 countries over a 50 years.
Roughly speaking, the majority population for Yemen is those 15-59 years old people over 50 years. Italy is expected to experience significant growth in its population of the elderly (60 or older)
In 2000, the two age categories (0-14 years old and 15-59 years old) almost accounted for the entire population in Yemen, respectively 46.3% and 50.10%. This proportion will slightly change over 50 years, in 2050, the population of 0-14 years old will decrease to 37% and 15- 50 years will comprise 57.30% of the total population. Meanwhile, the population of elderly people stay below merely 6% each year.
On the other hand, more than half Italian were between 15-59 years old in 2000 and the proportion of this age group will decrease to 46.20% in 2050. It is interesting to note that the elderly population (42.3%) in 2050 will be a double of the same age group in 2000 (24.10%). There were no significant changes in the population of those between 0-14 years old in 50 years, remained below 15% in each year.
