The line chart represents the alternations in three main categories of crimes in the centre of Newport city between 2003 and 2012. Overall, the number of burglary incidents experienced more noticeable changes in the chart. While, the robbery was far lower than the other two crimes.
As the graph shows, the robbery level in the inner city started at 700 in 2003, followed by a small increase to 900 by 2005. Then, it declined steadily until it fell to roughly 500 occurrences in 2008. After that, it rose with some fluctuations and at the same point as 2003. Regarding car theft, in 1985 number of incidents occurred at around 2,800, but then it leveled off for a year. This figure collapsed moderately from 2004 to 2005, then dramatically throughout the year when it reached at its lowest point at nearly 2000. Afterwards, the figure moved forward to as it was in 2003.
By contrast, the offence damages in burglary experienced considerable drop in 4 years period after 2004 from the highest level at 3780. In 2008, the kind of crime stood at 1000, but this number shot up to almost 1400. We can see that, the occurrences during car theft continued to rise and it is expected to climb. The two types of crime decreased over the period except the car theft.
