There are plans to build a new factory in parkland near where you live. Write a letter to the local council.
In your letter
give reasons why you are against the plans
explain why the parkland should stay
suggest what action the council should take
Write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to oppose the plans of constructing a new factory in central park. I am a resident of that area and I frequently visit the park. Building a factory there will adversely effect the residents as well as other species who depend on the park.
Let me explain in detail. Being the only park in the town, it is not only frequented my people of age group but also home to a number of migratory birds. Additionally, the park has many trees, some of which are over 100 years old. Destroying the park means cutting down all the tress and consequently driving away the birds and other animals. Despite the fact that the factory will definitely provide employment opportunities to many, it will come at a cost replacing the last open space in town.
Therefore, I would be grateful if you could present this argument in the next council meeting and use your power to halt the construction of the factory. Furthermore, a copy of this letter has been sent to the newspaper in order to raise awareness about the issue.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Mary Smith
