The bar chart compares the proportion of males and females doing physical activity in different age groups in Australia in the year 2010.
Overall, it is clear that within 6 age groups women were significantly more active than men. In addition, middle-aged women participated in physical activity most frequently, while men aged from 35 to 44 were least active.
Looking at the information in more detail, the proportions of both elderly men and women who did physical exercises on a regular basis were nearly equal, at 46.7% and 47.1% respectively. Interestingly, only in the youngest age group the percentage of men was higher than that of women, by approximately 5%.
Females who are from 35 to 44 did physical exercises most frequently. By contrast, the number of men in the same age group was at its lowest point, at only 39.5%. While nearly a half of females from 25 to 34 years old taking part in physical activity, the figure for men was only over 40%. Similarly, the percentage of women over 54 to 64 years old who did regular exercises was 10% higher than that of men.
