The graph below shows the trends in consumption of fast foods.
The chart gives information about the changes in the consumption of fast foods among British people between the years 1970 and 1990.
Overall, while the consumption of hamburgers and pizza, which were not initially favorite fast foods for the British, rose considerably over 20 years, there was a slight decrease in consumed fish and chips at those times.
Regarding the use of hamburgers, the trend was a slow growth and then marked increase, going from about 80 grammes in 1970 to 160 grammes in 1980 and then up to 500 grammes by 1990. This trend was reflected in the used pizza but at a lower rate, with people eating less than 30 grammes in 1970, and then it experienced a rise slow but sure, reaching a peak of 280 grammes in 1990.
However, while the consumption of fish and chips was initially the highest at 300 grammes in the year 1970, it fell to a low of 200 grammes in 1985, and then saw a slight increase, reaching 230 grammes in 1990.
