The maps depict the town center of a small place called Islip. One map shows the center as it is now and the other illustrates the plans for its modernization.
The town center today consists of a main road, running from west to east. There are shops on either side of the road. To the north is wide country side and in the south we find houses, parks and school.
The new plans will include the shops that will only be present on the south side of the road. Although the north side will not have shops, it will still be occupied by numerous buildings. These buildings will include new bus stations, shopping centers, car parks and new accommodations.
Perhaps the most important modification is the complete removal of roads from town center, to make it more environment friendly and pedestrian friendly. A dual carriage will circle the center rather than go inside. This will have the advantage of easy access to both school and park from either side of the road without winding down narrow streets.
