The graph shows data on UK ways of managing money for books purchased online from 1997 to 2002. Figures are represented in million pounds. The pie chart compares four british countries according to the proportion of books bought over the web.
Overall, the amount of money spent on books which was bought online increased regularly throughout the years. Among the four countries, Northern Ireland had the lowest amount of purchased online books, While England had the highest proportion.
In 1997, 10 million pounds of books were bought online in the UK. In addition, the amount rose consistently by 5% each year for the next three years before reaching nearly 22 million pounds in 2000. However, from 2000 to 2002, the amount of money spent was growing steadily by smaller amount. Moreover, in 2002, the money spent on books via internet achieved the peak point and reached almost 25 million pounds.
Obviously, England had accounted for most of the books purchased online at 81% followed by Wales which purchased at 10%. The rate of Scotland and Northern Ireland was considered the lowest with 8% and 1% respectively.
