The following table gives statistics showing the aspects of quality of life in five countries.
The tabular data delineates four economic indicators to show the standard of living in five selected countries for the year 1982.
Overall, it can be seen that the well-being of American citizens was far higher than the other four countries, while that of Bangladesh was having the least amongst all.
First of all, the USA, which is a developed country had the best figures for all the parameters. It's GNP stood at 13,160 dollars per head. The figures for daily calorie intake and life expectancy were also much higher, and it also had the lowest rate of infant mortality (12 per thousand children). On the other hand, Bangladesh witnessed by far the lowest quality of life. As the GNP of this country was 100 times less than the USA's. Notably, the calorie intake and life expectancy was 1877 and 40 respectively, which was exactly half of that of USA. Also, child deaths in Bangladesh was 10 times greater.
Amongst the other developing countries, all three were having an almost similar quality of life ratings. The range of indicators for Egypt, Indonesia and Bolivia were similar, with Egypt having the superior life-standard. However, the infant mortality rate in Egypt was slightly higher than Indonesia’s at 97 deaths per 1000 compared to 87 in Indonesia.
