Given are the chart depicting major factors causing the world’s land devastation and their effects in three areas, including North America, Europe and Oceania in the 1990s.
From an overall perspective, over-grazing accounted for the biggest influence on deteriorating the global land, which was followed by deforestation and over-cultivation activities. Meanwhile, there were considerable differences on the impact level of those causes between the region mentioned above.
As is visible in the illustration, the excess of grazing cattle made up the most on harming the worldwide land with the proportion of 35%, preceded by the destruction of forests with the percentage of 30% and 28% was the figure of the damage by cultivating over limit. The remaining proportion of damaging the land of global of 7% was the other reasons.
As far as the regions are concerned, Europe took the highest rate on land deteriorated with the number of 23% in its total land, which was accompanied by Oceania and North America with the figure of only 13% and 5% respectively.
Noticeably, while destroying trees was the main culprits spoiling the land, taking up 9.8% in total 23% damaged land of Europe, over-grazing overwhelmingly made up 11.3% in Oceania’s number of 13% and the agricultural activities exceeding their limits damaged the most in its land.
In conclusion, there were 3 chief culprits responsible for the global land erosion in the 1990s, which affected in the dissimilar manner in each of the areas in the world as mentioned above.
