Generating electricity through waves
The diagram illustrates the mechanism and process involved in the production of electricity by using waves as a source of energy.
Overall, the turbine, chamber, and the resulting pressure build-up due to waves help in generating electricity.
The structure is located above the ocean floor beside the cliff or sea wall. The structure contains a turbine inside a column and a chamber situated below the turbine. The turbine is attached to a bulb through a piece of wires.
The process starts, when the wave enters the chamber the air inside the chamber is pushed in. As a resulting pressure builds inside the chamber, the turbine starts to rotate which makes the bulb light up. In contrast, when the wave goes back to the ocean the air gets sucked out from the chamber. This makes the turbine spin again generating electricity. The process repeats, resulting in energy being produced through waves.
