The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
These pie charts illustrate the proportion of four typical meals containing three different nutritional values on average which might be harmful, unless it is consumed moderately. The data is taken from the United States of America.
During dinner, almost twice as much sodium is consumed as added sugar, 43% and 23% respectively. In addition, 37% of this meal accounts for saturated fat. Regarding lunch meal, there is no great deal of difference between sodium (29%) and saturated (26%), however the figure for added sugar is nearly one-fifth. When it comes to snacks, there is a far more proportion of added sugar than sodium and saturated fat, 42%, 21% and 14% in turn. A similar percentage of sodium, saturated fat and added sugar consumed in breakfast is around 14-16% which means that this meal contains significantly lower amount of nutrients.
Overall, it is clear that in the USA sodium is consumed relatively more in both lunch and dinner, however, snack meals contain substantial amount as much added sugar as any other nutrients. An interesting point is that the share of all nutrients of breakfast is almost the same.
