Both the reading passage and the lecture discuss schooling system and organization in United States. While the reading passage give us information about working and organization of education system in United State, the lecture point out it’s flaws.
First, reading state that children start their study in first grade at age of six years, and they get promoted into next grade each year as long as they meet requirement of next grade class. However, lecture insist that it’s not in favor of students. Because, the lecture/professor believe that some kids are get mature at age of four or five and some kids need more time than others.
Next, the reading asserts that if student fail to meet the requirment of next class they have to repeat the previous class untill they qualify for next class. In lecture, the professor argues that recent study showed that, if student fail in only some subject and they are force to reapeat entire year, will boared them and that results in dropout from school.
Finally, the reading states that all student are offered same subject till grade five. On the other hand, the lecture points out that every student have different skill set, maturity, intelletuality. And this education system don’t address this individual diffrence in students.
