The data table illustrates the trends in usage of rail transport in four different countries during the 2007.
Looking throughout the whole perspective, Japan accounted for the largest share for both number of people, using transport (27 thousand) and kilometers per head of population (1980 km per person). As opposite to Japanese, rail transport is not preferred among USA citizens, that makes up only one hundred part of number of Japan passengers. Also, quiet similar picture is in passenger kilometers per head of population in America, that equals to only 80.
It is of note, UK and Italy have similar patterns in rail transport turnover. Throughout a year 5,9 and 5,5 thousand of people respectively traveled by rail transport means, where average distance duration totals approximately from 770 to 780 km per person.
Turning to a cargo caried, in Italy, UK and Japan it is averaging around 22-23 billions of tones. Whereas the USA occupies the leading position in cargo turnover and the amount of carried goods is dramatically high, around 2820 billions of tones.
