the tables below give information about sales of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004 in five European countries.
The two tables illustrate the amount of money spent on purchasing of the Fairtrade-lablled coffee and bananas between 1999 and 2004 in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium, and Sweden.
As can be seen obviously form the chart that the sales of such products expressed an upward trend during the period of five years. Additionally, Switzerland has the most impressed figure in compare with the other nations.
To be specific, in 1999, British consumed 1.5 millions of euros on coffee. The figure was then be reinforced in the preceded five years, which accounted for 20 million euros. The others four nation also witnessed a climb in the turnover of the fairtrade-lablled coffee, especially Switzerland, which rose from 3 millions of euros in the former year to 6 millions of euros in the latter year. Sweden only increased slightly by 0.2 millions of euros in the course of five years.
The number of sale of fairtrade-lablled bananas in Denmark decreased by 1.1 millions of euros at the same time, but this was not a common trend with the rest of the countries. The figure of the UK was 15 millions of euros before having an impressive altering rate which was five times higher than the previous one.
