You work for an international company, and would like to spend six months working in its head office in another country.
Write a letter to your manager. In your letter
• explain why you want to work in the company’s head office for six months
• say how your work could be done while you are away
• ask for his/her help in arranging it
Dear Ms. Abott,
I am writing to request for your assistance regarding working in the head office. I have recently submitted a form expressing my interest to work at the headquarters for the upcoming six months, in Chicago.
I believe it is a great opportunity for me to acquire more knowledge as well as refine my existing skills. I would be able to impart the knowledge gained to the team here in Milan after I return.
While I am away, my work here will not suffer either. Although I have trained team members here who can deal with the tasks but my inputs are also needed in some scenarios. Hence, I have requested to allow me to allocate two hours daily from my working hours so that I can delegate the tasks to the team likewise. However, I have yet to receive further response.
Therefore, I would grateful if you could recommend me on working in the headquarters including the few hours required to mitigate tasks here.
Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
XYZ
