The bar chart below shows the three main causes of land damage in four different areas in the world.
The chart provides information about the areas of land damaged by human activities in four major continents of the world.
Overall, the largest amount of damaged land can be observed in Africa and Asia, with over 1000 million hectares each. By contrast, Australia and Europe each have a third of that amount of degraded land. It is also noticeable that while the major reasons for spoiled land in Africa, Australia, and Europe are breeding, in Asia, they are farming and tree-cutting.
As for details, breeding as the leading cause of soil degradation affects 500 hectares in Africa, almost 200 in Australia, and slightly more than 100 in Europe. Other two causes follow similar patterns, with logging coming second and farming the last.
Turning to Asia, we can see that the pattern is reversed. Deforestation affects about 450 hectares, while farming activities damage marginally less, at around 420 hectares. However, breeding appears to the least detrimental issue.
