Far ựadjsfhsdjhfsdjhfjksmily that it was possible my brother had problems with his muscles. We went to every hospital in NY to diagnose the hard skin on my brother's tiny legs, said to be a common symptom of cerebral palsy. "Cerebral palsy," they all replied. However, just months after the devastating shock, my brother started to crawl with ease. Astounded and relieved, I was left to ask, why the doctors incorrectly diagnosed my brother? As my interest expanded, I started pestering my cousin, an inspiring doctor, how the different parts of the body function or how certain medicines work. I would often stay summers with him, helping him with research. Without even knowing, I became increasingly interested in neuroscience and anatomy.
Soon, I joined my school's neuroscience club and tried out for the Science Olympiad club. I wrote articles that were published in the neuroscience magazine and participated in Science Olympiad events such as disease and anatomy/physiology. This year, I placed 3rd at Yale University's Science Olympiad. However, I felt like I wasn't reaching my potential. I wanted to go further. So, during quarantine, I started reaching out to my cousin who sent me some of his lessons and recommended that I apply to this Science Honors Program. I believe this opportunity would be enormous to me, allowing me to finally follow my passion.
