The graph below shows average obesity rates in the USA according to gender from 2000 to 2008

The line graph compares average obesity rates in the United States of men and women over an eight-year period, starting at 2000 and ending at 2008.

In 2000, the data shows that women who were obese reached 34% and stayed at this point during the next two years. However, from that point, the obesity rate of women increased slightly to 35% in 2004, and continue rising dramatically to the highest at 40% in 2008.

As we can see in the graph, the line graph provides the figures that the men who diagnosed as obese were 28% in 2000, much lower than that of women. After this, the rate had a little increase to 29% in 2002 and from then on, there was a skyrocketing over the next six-year period, to the high of 39% at 2008.

In general, the average obesity rates of American women were higher than men, and during the whole period, both rates were on the steady rise trends.
