The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graph indicates the amount of fuel energy consumed by US residents from 1980 with projections until 2030. This survey has been conducted from a 2008 report.
First of all, the graph illustrates the fact that the US residents consumed petrol and oil more than other fuels in 1980. Coal and natural gas were the second and third fuel which were consumed in the US. Nuclear, solar and wind energy as well as hydropower were consumed in the same quantities at about 4 quadrillion units.
According to the graph we can see immediately that the consumption of petrol and oil as well as coal will increased over 50 year period. Whereas, the consumption of natural gas shows a fluctuation trend. In fact, its consumption has increased and decreased until 2010. After this year the line graph will reach a plateau with approximately 24 quadrillion units. In addition, three other categories will remain stable until 2030. However, there were some minor rise and fall in the consumption of hydropower between 1995 to 2005.
The major conclusion that I have drawn using the line graph is that the consumption of petrol and oil will increase markedly in the future to more than 45 quadrillion units. Moreover, coal will increase gradually to up to 27 quadrillion units. Nuclear, solar and wind energy as well as hydropower wont change substantially during this
period. Natural gas will also have the same trend, apart from the fluctuation trend that occurred between 1980 to 2010.
