Emperor penguins - Integrated section
There has been a ton of debate about the Emperor penguins . More specifically, regard to the feauteres of the specie. The writer points out three possible causes of the decline. In the listening passage, the lecturer is quick to point out there are some flaws in the writer’s claim. In fact, the professor presents information that refutes each one of the writer’s arguments, which is addressed in details in the subsequent paragraphs.
To begin, the reading section argues that emperor penguins remain faithful to their partner for life. In fact, they use vocal calls of different frequencies to contact each other. This specific claim is challenged by the lecturer. She stated that in some cases penguins have a partner per year, implying that only 50% of the penguins remains monogamous for life. This is due to the fact thee can’t always find their previous mate.
Moreover, the articles discusses the fact that every year they always return to the same rookery to nest. This special practice is used to form large colonies. New information stands in form opposition this claim. In the listening passage is explained that satellite images confirmed that in 6 instances penguins didn’t return to the same rookery. Instead, they relocated into a new colony. This is linked with the fact that in some cases penguins can’t find their previous mate.
Finally, they author wraps up this argument by posting that penguins are not endangered because the population is stable. In fact, they are not protected by any international law. Not surprisingly, the lecturer found some flaws in the previous argument, insomuch as the harsh environmental condition we are facing could melt the ice affecting the marine living as well.
