The bar chart illustrates the amount of time that the youngest and oldest people spent on leisure and sports activities in a day, on average, in the US, in 2015.
Overall, it is clear that watching TV is the most favorite activity among young and old individuals. Playing games or using a computer is quite popular for teenagers while reading is another habit that seniors want to spend their time on.
Both generations love watching television since the average number of hours per day recorded was the highest among the remainings, at 4,5 hours for youngsters and 2,4 hours for older citizens. In contrast, students spent an average of one hour playing computer games when they had leisure time. However, this rate was only 0,5 when it came to the over 75 age group. Older individuals use a bit of their time reading, at one hour a day whereas young people put only 2 minutes of their entire day on this activity.
The trend was totally different when it came to other sectors. Aged people were likely to spend 6 minutes relaxing and thinking compared to just 1 minute for the young. In terms of socialization and sporting competitions, the children’s figure was more significant than that in the elderly, by 1 minute and 4 minutes respectively.
