The table compares different employment fields among workers from three groups of age
Overall, a vast majority of people choosing to work in the manufacturing sectors whereas accountancy employed the smallest number of workers. While retail was mostly preferred by young people, the oldest age group worked mostly in the field of manufacturing
Remarkably, there was the same percentage of 4% among all age groups in the law sector. Retail employed the highest proportion of youngsters with 23%, 4 times as much as the same figure for the age group of 40-65. However, most of these adults worked in the manufacturing sector with the proportion of 23%. In stark contrast, accountancy attracted the least number of people with merely 2-3% and the figures for agriculture and catering were not above 10%
With regards to the middle-aged group, most of them were employed in what was referred as “other” with the portion of 18%, followed by manufacturing and healthy with 15% both. The percentages of people in the fields of local government and education were relatively lower and most of the employees were adults over 25 years old.
