In this set of materials, both the reading and the lecture discuss the possibility of living on Venus surface. Although the passage provides three theories against living on Venus, the speaker refutes all of the arguments through several reasons, which will be described in this report.
To start off with, the passage points out that the pressure on the Venus surface is 90 times greater than the pressure of the Earth surface, so all spacecraft have been crashed by each other. The lecture, in contrast, rejects this by claiming that humans would establish a floating station that is a place 50 kilometer above Venus surface. In this situation, the pressure is equal to the Earth surface pressure. If they establish a station flow around Venus atmosphere like bloom, they make a situation that the Venus pressure becomes equal to Earth pressure surface. Furthermore, in the floating station, all spacecraft can stay without any crashes.
Going through the next approach, unlike the reading passage, which states that on the Venus surface, water and oxygen are not existing so that people should bring these components with themselves, the professor argues that people can produce water and oxygen on the Venus surface. He adds that Venus surface has special components like carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid which people would use some chemical process to produce water and oxygen.
To take into the end, although the passage says that the sunlight could not rich the Venus surface because the thick clouds prevent the sunlight, and below the clouds, a dense layer of carbon dioxide block the sunlight. So, the human could not get electricity to power their machines and equipment. The speaker disagrees by mentioning that by staying on the flow station this problem is solved. 50 Km above Venus surface, the sunlight reaches the surface, furthermore, the reflection of sunlight reaches the station. Hence, the human can get electricity by sunlight.
