The diagram below shows the average hours of unpaid work per week done by people in different categories. (Unpaid work refers to such activities as childcare in the home, housework and gardening.)
Describe the information presented below, comparing results for men and women in the categories shown. Suggest reasons for what you see.
The vertical bar graph depicts the standard hours of unrewarded work done by both married men and women. Here, this unrewarded work is referred to as the household chores and taking care of children, etcetera.
A glance at this data figures out that, women ought to do more unpaid work at home, as against, the unpaid work done by men at home is far lesser. It is also conspicuous that, the couples who were married but did not have any kids spent far lesser hours on household chores than couples with children.
Men at home had not been observed spending many hours on household chores, such as married men either with no children or one to two children spent almost equivalent, around 19 hours of unpaid work at home. But astonishingly the men who had more than 3 children spent even lesser hours doing all these household chores, about 16 hours.
On the other hand, the unrewarded hours spent by women at home has evidently increased with respect to the increasing number of family members. Married women who had no children spent 30 hours of their schedule on all household chores. Families who had one to two or more than three childern, women had to work around 52 and 60 hours without being rewarded, respectively.
