The pie charts in question illustrate the proportion of online shopping sales for retail sectors in New Zealand in the years 2003 and 2013. The retail sectors for online sales are travel, film and music, books and clothes.
The first chart represents the total online sales for the year 2003. The chart reveals that travel sector dominated the sales online, raking up 36% of the total revenue. The second highest percent of revenue was generated by the internet sales was in the apparel section. It garnered 24%. Movies and songs collected a little more than one-fifths of the total earnings. The lowest contributor in 2003 to the online sales for retail was books whose collection stood at a meager 19% of the total. This is in stark contrast to 2013. The second chart illustrates that ten years later, cinema and songs are the largest supplier of money from online sales. It garnered 33% of the total sales. As compared to the earlier 2003 sales, in 10 years sales of travel sector has dropped by 7% and it is in 2nd place. In 2003, books recorded the lowest percent of total money collected. The chart reveals that sales of books grew by 3% from its previous figure. The clothing section took a dramatic drop in sales in 2013 registering only 16% of the total which is lower than its earlier figures.
So, the charts show that the shopping trends have changed in 10 years. Earlier it was travel-dominant now film is the biggest revenue puller. Books take precedence over clothes in 2013, a complete reversal of the earlier trend.
