The diagrams below show the life cycle of the silkworn and the stages in the production of silk cloth.
The flow charts given illustrate the circular rotation of the silkworn and how the silk cloth are produced.
From an overall perspective, it is evident that there are different steps in the life progression of the silkworm and 5 stages in the whole silk cloth producing process from the cocoon.
The silkworm eggs envolved to larve by 10 days. After eating mulberry leaf for their food, in 4-6 weeks later, the silk thread is weaved around the larve. In the next 3-4 days, it changes to coccoon. By 16 days, the moth gets out of the coccoon and breeds new eggs which starts the cycle again.
In order to produce silk cloth, the coccoons are selected and boiled in water. In the next stage, A length from 300 meters to 600 meters of thread is unwound. Some of these thread are twisted while others are weaved. Before the final production, both of them are dyed in colorful chemical substances.
