The given diagram illustrates how the station street has transformed since the year 1960. Overall, it is clear that over the given period, most stores have been demolished to give way for the eretion new constructions and the enlargement of old ones.
Taking a closer look at the first mapk, in 1960, there was a wide range of stores located in the North side of Station Street, including a pharmacy, a butcher, a toy store, a bookstore, a bakery, a DVD rental store and a fish and chips shop. To the South side of this street, there were a grocery, public telephones and a railway station and a dry cleaner’s in the Southeast corner of the map.
By these days, there have been dramatic changes taking place in this street. In the North part of the street, all stores have been pulled down to pave the way for a parking area, a new supermaket and a small café. Similarly, the grocery in the Southwest corner has been replaced by a new hotel. The railway station has been extended to the West, which led to the remove of the original public telephones. Meanwhile, the dry cleaner’s remained in the same position over the given period.
