this bar chart shows the numbers (in thousands) of students who chose certain university subjects in 2005. The chart groups the students according to the subject and divides these subject groups into men and women. There are clear differences between men and women.
Overall, it can be seen that the number of people who chose social sciences is the highest. however, the opposite was true for the Arts.
For women, they almost chose social science (around 25000 people). this figure is higher than the other seven subjects. Besides, languages also were the favorite kind of subject for them (about 20000 people chose). however, mathematics and laws are the lowest subjects chosen. Girls learned more than boys in 3 subjects: social science, languages and the Arts.
On the other hand, males seem to like studying sciences, mathematics, literature, and laws than females. The number of boys who chose sciences is the highest, over 20000. while their lowest subjects have chosen were in languages and the arts (around 2000 and 3000 respectively). So the differences of about 20000 boys chose highest sciences and mathematics while their lowest in languages.
