Advances in science, technology, and other areas of society in the last 100 years have transformed the way we live as well as postponing the day we die. There is no better time to be alive than now.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.
Over the last century, scientific discoveries and technological breakthroughs had detrimental impacts on shaping our lifestyles and raising our life span. Therefore, it is a common belief that this is the most ideal time to live. I strongly agree with this notion due to several reasons.
Firstly, advents in all fields benefit our lifestyle, especially in communicating habits. For instance, Messenger, the software that is well-known for sending messages and calling videos online, is used by billion of users every day. The main reason for this is that unlike in the past, when people had to write a letter or travel long distances in order to meet face-to-face, the app’s function allows people to have conversations online via the Internet, without worrying about geographical barriers and time-consuming. Thus, this example illustrates a good explanation of how technological advancement contributes to modernizing our method of interacting.
Secondly, these breakthroughs are essential to lengthen the average lifespan. The main reason is that scientific investigation helps patients and doctors to treat dangerous diseases. HIV, for example, had killed hundreds of million people in the 1980s. However, its impact can be slower with fast diagnosis and MRNA medicine these days. This saves millions of patients every year, which directly contributes not only to decreasing the mortality rate but also fosters economic growth as more people are recovered from critical conditions. Therefore, life expectancy would continue to rise thanks to society's developments.
In conclusion, 100 years of evolution have postponed the aging process and changed our living ways. While some people contend that there is another era containing the best living conditions, I firmly believe that these days are the most suitable time to be alive.
