The line graph gives information about the amount of oil Chinese produced and consumed over a course of 24 years starting from 1982.
In general, the diagram shows an upward trend over the time shown. While the amount of oil consumption rose considerably, the oil production experienced a slight increase.
It was noticeable that both consumption and production had the same amount of oil at 2 million barrels in 1982 before the oil consumption grew to around 3.2 million barrels in 1994. There was a gradual rise in the figure for oil production by 1 million barrels between 1982 and 1994.
The amount of oil consumption sharply rose to 4 million barrels in 1998. A striking feature was that the oil consumption reached the peak at 6 million barrels in 2006. In contrast, the amount of oil production witnessed a stability at approximately 3 million barrels after 1994 and ended at 3.5 million barrels in 2006.
