The two pictures illustrate how a small town of Islip changed after some developments in a period of 5 years starting from 2005.
Overall, the town underwent a number of modifications after the construction of several facilities.
Looking at the maps in detail, in 2005, there was a main road running from east to west with 2 lines of shops along. There was a rural area to the north of the road while there were 2 housing areas to the south. There was also a large park to the east of the accommodations and a school to the west of these regions. Both the park and the school were connected to the main road by 2 minor roads.
Moving to 2010, the most significant changes were the appearance of a divided highway surrounding the town and a pedestrian precinct which used to be the main road in 2005. To the north of the pedestrian precinct, the line of shops was demolished and replaced by a bus station, a shopping centre, a car park and a new residential area. The new housing region was connected to the dual carriageway by a small route. To the south of the pedestrian precinct, more accommodations were built, the park was also made smaller to make way for this development.
