Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Workers are more satisfied when they have many different types of tasks to do during the workday than when they do similar tasks all day long.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Opinions divide when it comes to whether workers feel pleased when they have various types of tasks to do, with some claiming that it's more interesting, while some believe that it's painful to learn different skills. From my perspective, I agree with the former argument. There are several reasons in support of the following paragraphs.
First, people tend to have a low mood when they are dedicated to the same task for a long time. If workers are only allowed to do similar tasks five days a week, it's highly possible for them to treat their job as a tedious and boring activity. Therefore, it's barely possible for laborers to feel satisfied with their jobs. Take my own experience, for example, I once took a part-time job in a restaurant. All I have to do is just wash dishes for three hours every day. It was suffering and I eventually quitted the job. For this reason, I don't think that workers will feel pleasant when they are asked to do similar tasks long.
Secondly, executing the same kind of jobs leads to low efficiency. To be more specific, if a person is asked to do similar tasks for a long time, it's easy for him or her to pay less attention to it. That is, he is easily distracted by other activities when he is working. Since he doesn't fully focus on his job, it will take more time to finish it. In the end, the working period must become longer. No one can deny that a long-time working style leads to an unhealthy mental state. Hence, I strongly believe that doing the same kind of tasks will eventually cause workers to feel low satisfied.
Admittedly, it takes time to learn new knowledge to meet different types of tasks and the learning process might be painful. Nevertheless, people need the feeling of accomplishment from their work, and acquiring unfamiliar skills is a suitable challenge for people to conquer. Therefore, I believe that learning and adapting to new tasks are worth the trouble.
To sum up, I don't think that workers will be happier when they only have similar tasks to do. Since it's easy to feel tedious and leads to long working hours.
