The use of Ecstasy, a dangerous dance drug, has increased alarmingly in the world over the past decades among high school seniors. What do you think is the cause of this situation ? And what measures can be taken to prevent it
Ecstasy consumption is one of the alarming problems that society has to face over the past decades, especially among high school seniors. There are many reasons why this issue has increased rapidly and measurements should be taken seriously to prevent it as soon as possible. I can identify three main causes, and three broad solutions, which we will describe now.
Perhaps the main cause is the lack of knowledge and awareness of students about the dangers of this attractive substance, the short-term and long-term effects it will bring. Some students do not think thoroughly before deciding to try Ecstasy, they keep in mind that they would only do it once and quit, or some others want to show themselves off, thinking it would be cool, these phenomena lead to a high increase in the use of this dance drug. Another factor may frequently be the careless, loose education of family, meaning that parents do not pay much attention to what their children are doing, thus youngsters can freely do whatever they want without worrying about being scolded or grounded. Students who think negatively, for instance with school, family, future career may also result in stress, pressure and the desire to free themselves.
There are a few actions could be taken to prevent this problem. The most efficient solution is family must educate their children to understand fully about the drug and the harmful effects, which plays an important role in forming the right mindset in students. If the student have already taken it, family still hold an undeniable position as a place where they could rely on, be encouraged, and share all their thoughts. Since the young Ecstasy consumer will suffer from emotional problems, such as depression, lack of motivation, bouts of mania. Furthermore, it is crucial for the government to conduct a survey or a test in the whole country to know exactly about the situation among high school juniors. As a result, both students and parents will always be alarmed and not be able to take a chance using this drug. In addition, the whole society can also reach out a hand in order to help prevent this issue, for example, spreading news, knowledge to raise awareness, helping the consumers to quit and change themselves instead of laughing or ignoring. All such efforts will eventually contribute to preventing society's problems and decreasing the dramatic increase.
In conclusion, students are facing serious issues regarding Ecstasy consumption and there are many causes for this, both subjective and objective reasons. Preventing the use of Ecstasy is not only the job for an individual but also the role of the family and whole society.
