The maps below show the changes in a town after the construction of a hydroelectric power dam.
The diagrams give information about how an electrical generator dam changed the appearance of a town over a period of twenty years, starting from 1990.
Overall, it is clear that the town transform from a agriculture-based area into a commerce-based one with little involvement of green spaces. In addition, some industrial services were introduced to the town.
Regarding the agricultural places, along the river, irrigated farmlands and areas used for rare flora and fauna were destroyed to make way for villages, which were relocated from the Middle East of the town and electrical facilities. Moreover, in the Northern part, there was a replacement of woodlands and the ancient structure of the old town with a big reservoir. Situating near the reservoir, a hotel was constructed to provide accommodation service.
In the other parts of the town, the two mountains in the North remained unchanged over the period. In contrast, the two other in the South disappeared to make room for development. Finally, the river varied significantly due to a hydroelectric dam diving it into two separate parts with the Northern part is a man-made lake and the Southern one is the same as it was in 1990.
