The chart below shows details of the sources of police funding, and the pie charts show the distribution of this bank. From a holistic perspective, it is clear that contributions from all sources of funding increased, even though local taxes showed the greatest growth in funding. On the spending side, there was a significant increase in technology, building and transport financing which appeared to be flat, and wages fell although in the category that continued to make up the majority of the bank.
In 2017, the national government contributed £175.5 million, slightly less than the following year's figure of 177.8 million. In contrast, local taxes were generally lower in both years but increased significantly from 91.2 million to 102.3 million. Other sources such as subsidies, were mostly unchanged, only slightly increased from 38 to 38.5 million. The total number increased by 13.9 million to 318.6 million.
