The graph gives information about the age of the population of Iceland between 1990 and 2020.
Given is the bar chart illustrating data on the changes in the proportion of Iceland population which was divided into five distinctive categories, over a three-decade period, from 1990 to 2020, measured in percentages.
It is clear that the 25 - 54 age group took the dominant lead throughout the years, which highlights the fact that the workforce in Iceland is growing significantly.
In 1990, the 25 - 54 group took about 32% of the whole number of people in Iceland. The younger group, 0 - 14 and 15 - 24, occupied higher rates than the elderly, with over 20% of each compared to the over 10% in the two older groups. The population trend remained stable in the next ten years, 2000, which also witnessed a more specific rate in younger age groups. However, the over 65 and over group rose a little larger than the 55 - 64 group, contradicting to the 1990 figure.
The 25 - 54 age group reached its peak at nearly half of the population of Iceland in 2020, whereas the 15 - 24 age group showed a dramatic fall in the two next decades with its trough at about 8% in 2020. The 0 - 14 group also declined a little, and the two elderly groups still remained stable trend as in the previous period.
