The charts show world pineapple exports by the top three pineapple-producing countries in 2009 and 2019, and a breakdown of the cost to the consumer of each pineapple in 2019. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The charts illustrate the world export data of pineapples in three countries that were on the top of producing in a decade from 2009 to 2019, and indicate the total cost of each fruit when being bought by consumers in 2019.
Overall A was the country that produced the most quantity of pineapples while country C was the counterpart. It is clear that in total 7 categories of the cost each pineapple, distribution and retail made up the highest amount of money.
In 2009, the number of pineapples exported was about 1 million tonnes, which was not half as high as this figure for country B. However, over a span of 10 years, five times as many pineapples were exported by country A than country B. Regarding country C, the figure for this country was at the bottom of the list, at around under 1 million tonnes in this decade.
If we look at the breakdown of the cost to buyers each pineapple, the distribution and retail costs were the most expensive, accounting for a third of total cost while the percentage of export costs were just 4%. The second highest cost was the profit to retailers, followed by the taxes, at 18% and 16% respectively. The import licences costs were twice as high as the producer costs.
