The bar chart illustrates several changes about the proportion of residents who were born in Australia and who were born outside living in downtown, countryside and cities in 1995 and 2010.
While the percentage of people born in Australia living in cities was the highest, that of people born outside this country living in cites also remained at the top in both year given.
In both 1995 and 2010, the percentage of people born in Australia living in cities saw an increase from 50% to 62%. While that of people living in rural areas and towns experienced a decline from around 30% and 20% to below 20% correspondingly.
The percentage of people born outside Australia living in cities increased from 60% in 1995 to 80% in 2010. By contrast to that high proportion, the figure of people born abroad out of Australia living in towns was the lowest in 1995 with about 15%.
