The graph below shows the number of tourists visiting a particular Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The provided line graph illustrates the accommodation preferences of visitors in a certain Caribbean island over the seven year period from 2010, including staying on cruise ships and on island. Overall, it is evident that the tourist industry of the island experienced an upward trend throughout the timeframe surveyed largely driven by the contribution of the ship accommodation category.
According to the chart, the total number of tourists visiting this island accounted for 1 million guests in 2010, made up by two-thirds from staying on the island. This pattern continued to increase until 2015 where the tourist industry amounted to 2.75 million visitors which was contributed by nearly equal numbers of two kinds of staying, 1.5 million from island accommodation and 1.25 million from ship accommodation.
Moving on after 2015, the preference of staying on ships surpassed the other category, specially in 2016 and 2017, it attracted 1.5 and 2 million visitors respectively while staying on island achieved 1.25 and 1.5 in two years mentioned. This led to a significant rise of the total number of tourists in this Caribbean island, peaking at the highest point of 3.5 million guests in 2017.
