The line graph illustrates the average monthly variation in the cost of copper, nickel, and zinc throughout the year 2014.
Overall, after a year, while the change in the price of copper and nickel decreased, zinc witnessed a slight increase. Beginning as an element that had the highest price rate, nickel turned out to be the third-rank element at the end of 2014.
It can be seen from the chart that nickel, in January 2014, was the most expensive metal with 6%. However, after this month, it started to decline and reached the bottom of the chart in June 2014, which was -3%. In October, nickel once again witnessed a decrease in its price, but it was still higher than in June, at -2%. There was an increase one month after that, then it stayed unchanged at 1% till the end of 2014.
Ranked in the top 2 metals that had the highest cost, at 2%, Copper then began to fall to about -0.5% in May. After a month remained stable, it rose to 1% in July and ended at about 1.8% in December in its percentage change in price. Different from the other two metals, zinc, at the beginning, was about 1% in its variation level; however, it did not fall right after, it showed a small increase in February. From March to October, although there was a small fluctuation in the middle period, the proportion change in its cost still went down and reached -1% in two months, which is June and October. Yet, in the end, zinc displayed a significant change when it turned out to be the metal that had the most variation level in the change of the price, at 2%.
