The pie charts show changes in spending habits of people in The UK between 1971 and 2001.
Basically, most of the people in the kingdom, as well as the rest of the people around the globe, usually spend their money to fulfill these three kinds of necessities - basic needs (food and furniture), secondary needs (books and computers), and luxurious needs (cars, petrol, and restaurant).
In 1971, most of the spending went to the basic needs - 44% for food and 9% for furniture. The rank was followed by luxurious needs - 32% for cars and the fuel, 7% for restaurants. Meanwhile, secondary needs - books and computers - were not really given attention.
In 2001, the next millennium, people's way of life changed; their spending to luxurious needs became twice as those of 30 years before - 51% for cars and petrol, 14% for restaurants. Fulfilling the basic needs was not the main concern anymore - food 14% and furniture 8%. In addition, the rapid growth of technology made book become less popular in 2001 as shown by the fact that it only took 1% of the spending.
