Essay topics:

Human activity has had a negative impact on the sustainability of the environment. In fact, not many people care about this problem. Do you agree or disagree ?

In today’s world, the term “environment” is extremely familiar to every one of us and every individual is responsible for protecting the environment from pollution and being exploited by human activities. In fact, there are not many people concern about this problem. According to The World Count (2020), if human activities keep on exploiting the environment without control, the world's natural resources will run out soon. Humankind would certainly struggle against a shortage in daily food consumed, a lack of fresh air to breath, and drainage of water usage. In order to prevent the environment from its degradation, raising people’s awareness of recent environmental issues has not only been an individual business, it’s must be supported by the whole community. Moreover, participating in some environmental projects or activities also encouraged us to have an insight into the issue that we are tackling.

First and foremost, to prevent the environment from being destroyed steadily, the government should enact stricter laws to restrict the illegal activities that cause harm to the environment. According to Dr. Ibaba (2010), Environmental Protection Laws and Sustainable Development in the Niger Delta, the enforcement of the laws are considered to be one of the major features of the conservation of the resources in the Niger delta; nevertheless, the government still pay little attention to this. In fact, the waste bumped yearly directly into rivers and black smoke includes fatal substances from factories’ chimney is seriously considered. According to the Industrial Waste Management: Waste Stream Statistics in 2007, “While the U.S. produces around 236 million tons of municipal solid waste every year, the numbers for industrial waste are far less clear. Some estimates go as high as 7.6 billion tons of industrial waste produced every year”. Once the new law requires factories or small independent businesses to eliminate their domestic or industrial wastes by setting up waste treatment throughout the production process, it would worth a helping hand to lessen the degradation of the environment stability.

Secondly, in order not to exacerbate the environmental condition, one and all must start by taking small actions which certainly bring big change (Hilton 2020). Volunteer to become an activist in environmental campaigns is strongly encouraged in all variety of ages, especially teenagers. Currently, there are numerous non-profit and non-governmental organizations that are in charge of acknowledging the residents about our struggles with today’s world resources. Those who have a chance to be a member of any campaign would constantly change their attitudes and behavior which is beneficial for the environment to regenerate its condition. Furthermore, the educational campaign has proved its absolute effect on the residents in the way they act and think towards their waste and its opportunities for the whole community to become more environmentally conscious (Grodzińska-Jurczak et al., 2006). At this time, we have been dealing with the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic which prevents us from working, going to school, taking part in any social activities. In some ways, it offers us more chances to approach environmental sustainability. For instance, one of the most outstanding campaigns that contribute to the acknowledge residents which are run over the globe named Vitamin N. By bringing people to nature and wildlife through the screen, this projects has positively influenced ordinary people to raise environmental consciousness and has encouraged their changes to be more ecologically-responsible behavior in their daily life.

An advocate for the protection of renewable energy, famous for being the first person to walk on both Poles, Robert Swan (2012), stated that “The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it”. Each of us has the responsibility for rescuing and sustaining nature. Moreover, natural resources are indispensable to people in everyday lives, without it, we hardly can continue to survive. Stated by Kaiser, F.G (1999), “Shrinking natural resources, overwhelmed landfill sites, pollution, the depletion of the ozone layer, and the greenhouse effect challenge human existence”. In addition, standing up and taking responsibility towards our environment before human exploitation completely depletes them is our duty because the Earth has given us natural services for humans and all other species which are fundamental to our well-being, the standard of living, and the chance of survival. For example, The key to address this problem is to start acting from small steps, and once you find it easier to start recycling or sorting domestic waste, you will be amazed how it affects our way of living (“Why Is It Important to Care About the Environment?”, 2021).

On the whole, each and every one of us should actively volunteer to take part in the progress of recovering our environment. If we continually take advantage of nature for economic growth without aware of its sustainability, we will have nothing left within years since most of the resources are non-renewable. Additionally, being informed of the importance of conserving the environment is also initial because “The generation that destroys the environment is not the generation that pays the price” (Maathai, W., 2009). We have to put ourselves in the environment’s position to forewarning about the catastrophic consequences that we going to suffer; otherwise, we will accidentally put an end to humans’ extinction.
