The level of salt in the lake water
The passage proposes that reducing of lake's salinity can be done by several ideas. On the contrary, the professor in the lecture says that these ideas are highly questionable and does not validate them by mentioning some reasons.
First off, the reading passage states that the level of lake's salt can be reduced by using special desalination facilities. However, the professor mentions that this point is not to be taken seriously due to the fact that the salt that is produced after the evaporation of the lake's water is so dangerous. It makes some chemical activities that are toxic. When this salt scatters by wind, people breed it and it is hazardous for them.
Furthermore, the author holds the view that they can bring ocean water for diluting the salt level. Conversely, the professor refutes the idea due to the fact that the government's source for construction of canals is limited. There are 100 kilometers distance from the lake to the ocean and it is too expensive for construction in this long distance.
Finally, the reading asserts that it is a great idea to construct walls to divide that lake into low level and high level's salt. On the other hand, the lecturer casts doubt about the opinion by underlining the fact that it cannot work for a long time because the walls can be destroyed by geological activities like earthquakes. They may be useful for a short time but after the earthquake. They might be destroyed and the high-level salinity part can mix by low-level salinity one.
