Scholarship essay

I am a mid-career finance professional with a strong determination for self-development.
After graduation with a first-class honor bachelor in accounting, I walked my first step into the finance journey by working at a Big 4 accounting firm. My career achievement has been demonstrated by annual excellent performance awards and my fast progress from fresh graduation to a managerial position at a multinational corporation in just four years of working. In the long run, I see myself leading a large firm. And I’m eager to equip myself with knowledge, skills, and further, practical simulations to achieve success in solving problems and managing the return efficiently with a master's degree in finance, focus on investment.
In recent years, I have seen tremendous growth of Irish companies making an impact in several industries, including Finance, Information Technology, Healthcare, and Renewable Energy. Finance remains at a center of several industry functions, and it fuels the year over year growth. Irish Fellowship provides a good platform for me to use my experience in the finance industry and combine that with the knowledge I will acquire through the Master’s program at Trinity College Dublin.
As ASEAN’s “rising star”, with the stable economic growth between 6% and 7% over the past 10 years, with many comparative advantages and a strong investment climate, Vietnam has been more appealing to foreign investors. However, capital is currently pouring heavily into labor-intensive fields and environmental pollution, and the amount invested in the high-tech agriculture, fisheries, software production and renewable energy is still limited and stays at less than 2% of the total registered FDI capital up to December 2019. As these areas play an essential role in the sustainable economy of Vietnam, and they also are competitive advantages of Ireland, this fact provides great opportunities for Irish Enterprises to expand their business in Vietnam. After returning to Vietnam, I’m delighted to work for an Irish investment fund to find and exercise the investment into Vietnam, which can both grow Irish business and Vietnam long term economic development.
I am very enthusiastically looking forward to using my expertise gained from the fellowship to positively contribute to the strategic partnership between the two countries.
