Education plays a prominent role in today's world. The more educated the people of society are, the better promising future that society might have. Therefore, there are different opinions on the best way to encourage students to study and pay attention to their education. Despite the fact that some people hold the idea that students should not be evaluated based on their grades since they might become disapointed if they do not get good marks in their courses, I believe otherwise, maintaining that appraising students on the ground of their marks is the best way to encourage students to study. In what follows, I will delve into the most persuasive reasons to substantiate my perspective.
Without a doubt, the most consequential reason corroborating my stance on this subject is that not only do students need to see the outcome of their strives, but they also need a stimulus. Grades propels student to put their effort in the right direction and climb the ladder of success. If students get good grades in their courses, their self-confidence will increase and they become aware that their efforts provide them with fruitful results. On the other hand, in case of obtaining not satisying marks, they will they enhance their efforts to compensate their previous poor perfromance. According to one survey, the students that are evaluated with grades study more and are more knowledgable than those are not. Therefore, this reason manifests that grading-based education systems motivate students to study and acquire more knowledge.
Although the previous reason is the first one crossing the mind at first glance, another remarkable point deserving some words here is that most students are familiar with the fact obtaing good grades results in studying in reputable university in the future, which eventually secure their future career-life. Every year, there innumarable applicants apply for renowned universities around the globe or seek a job. Average grading is one of the most decisive criteria based on which the manager of a corporation or the admission committee of a university make a comparison between applicants. Students are aware of this truth, so they do their best to improve their grades. Thus, this point illustrates the fact that no other factor more promisng than grading in persuading students to study and learn.
To make the long story short, many people are in favor of evaluating students based on other criterias than gradings. They believe grades discourage students to study and learn. Nevertheless, the foregoing points lead us to conclude that educational systems that are based on grading system propel pupil to study and put all their efforts.
